About Us

We are a network of people joined together by the love of making things and helping others

Our Story in Stitches

We are a friendly, inclusive community brought together by a shared love of knitting, sewing and crochet. What started as a simple get-together years ago has grown into a vibrant network of people who value friendship, learning, and the joy of making things together.

Conversation and creativity sit at the heart of everything we do. Our gatherings are full of shared stories, tips, laughter, and problem-solving — whether thatʼs untangling a tricky pattern or discovering a brand-new technique. We believe that crafting together is both uplifting and beneficial for health, helping people feel connected, relaxed and inspired.

While the social side comes first, weʼre also proud of the way our members use their skills for good. We work with a range of local and international charities, taking time to understand their needs so that the blankets, garments and other handmade items we create are genuinely useful and appreciated. Making with purpose adds depth and meaning to our shared craft time.

Our Hubs for Crafting and Connection

To help our members, we’ve set up a dedicated resource centre which is a treasure trove for any crafter, stocked with a wide range of yarn, fabric, buttons and other supplies, all at very affordable prices. We host a monthly Open Day, which serves as a vital meeting point for our community. It’s a fantastic opportunity to catch up with friends, find inspiration for new projects and bring in your latest creations to share. These open days are a true celebration of our shared passion and a testament to the power of coming together.

In addition to meet ups at our own hub, we organise a once a month outing to Emmaus in Ditchingham where we have a meeting hub which enables us to spend time with our members over in the west.

A Welcoming Community for Everyone

We welcome everyone, regardless of age, experience or ability. You might already belong to a crafting group and want to be part of a wider network, be thinking about starting a group of your own, or prefer to craft from the comfort of your armchair — all are equally valued.

To support our members, weʼve created a resource centre stocked with yarn, fabric, buttons and other essentials, all available at affordable, member-friendly prices. Our monthly Open Day brings everyone together — a chance to catch up, share finished projects, find inspiration, and celebrate what can happen when people come together around a shared passion.

There are no joining fees and no expectations — just friendship, learning, creativity, and, of course, plenty of tea, cake and conversation.

Through our support, we are delighted that we made it possible for a girl called Emily to get an education. She has since passed her exams, left school and has got herself a job. We think that education can give a girl confidence and the tools to succeed in the adult world.

Following on from such a positive outcome for Emily, we now sponsor another girl’s (Amelia) education and send gifts to the rest of the children when we can; these are taken directly there by one of our members. We get letters, photos and a newsletter to keep us up to date.

  • Salvation Army Hospital in Chikankata, Zambia. Toys, clothes etc are taken directly there by a nurse from Gorleston.
  • Love Boxes & Link to Hope Shoebox Appeals at Christmas.
  • Tiny hats for preterm babies in Sierra Leone sent direct from Suffolk.
  • MPower Malawi – Marion spends a lot of her time there and only comes back home to the UK briefly and ties these visits in with collecting things from us. She helps children with disabilities, mainly Cerabal Palsy, as they are not very well served in their country. We make sensory toys and clothes for them.

*We have a local contact for all our overseas charities to ensure safe delivery.*
